July 2017 Accomplishments

I admit when I first write down my monthly accomplishments this is only one thing: getting more Facebook followers. I will say that I have nearly forgotten that this month is my anniversary month. This changes everything because I have survived and thrived on the blogosphere! Below are my July accomplishments:

  • Gain more Facebook followers
  • Celebrate 2-year anniversary!

July is my anniversary month! I am very happy to have blogged for 2 years! Yes, I have created my site on July 31, 2015 and my first post is that generic WordPress site post but dang it – I am up on the Internet and ready for business! Blogging on this site has transformed me personally and professionally. Personally I have gained a whole new level of endurance from being consistent. Blogging is hard! I have to keep coming up with new ideas, concepts, and ways to expand. When I started in 2015, there were no Blogtalkradio podcast, now YouTube Live episodes, Facebook Live, nothing; just me, my laptop and my thoughts. I wanted to create a place where people can read about and enact positive change principles. I wanted to counter the notion that all change was negative. After 2 years, I felt that I had accomplished. Indeed, at the 2-year mark I was just getting started.

It took me up to this point to actually figure out a monetization strategy. Moving forward, I feel that I to do more ways of monetizing. I do see a positive mug and TV line in the very near future because I have been wanting to do that since the beginning. Now I am in a position to accomplish this.

PositivityChange Post : Issue 45 : Two Years On

Today, July 31, 2017, marks my second anniversary of PositivityChange! When I first started this blog, I had no idea that it would morph into an Amazon bestselling book or get me on radio. All I wanted to do was prove that positive change existed and show people to how create more of it. I am grateful for all of the readers, subscribers, Facebook followers and retweets that my articles have received.

Here are my 5 takeaways from celebrating 2 years’ of positive change:

  • Positive change is hard but doable – there I’ve said it. I think that initially when I started, people assumed that my site would be all lovey dovey and gushy. It isn’t. Positive change is hard work especially when the world equates change to be negative. I am happy to diligently write about how to create and maintain positive change for two years.
  • Keep spare articles around when the lull and writing block hits – it’s unrealistic to feel positive 100% of the time. As a blogger, I have to have back-up articles that I post just in case I either don’t feel like writing or have completely blanked out. Remember, I may have an off day but readers are coming to my blog daily.
  • It’s okay to not have all of the answers – when you’re blogging, readers assume that you’re the field expert. Well, I am 100% certain that I know more now in 2017 than I did when I first started in 2015.
  • Ignore the haters. I am writing and moving forward. They aren’t – people who leave rude comments and want to go back and forth with you on social media aren’t content creators. I am. It is only human to get defensive whenever some leaves a bad comment; but, I remember, that I am the one is actually out there actively blogging and contributing. They aren’t.
  • Keep in touch with your audience – Community means everything to me. I love my subscribers, followers and blog readers. I value your input and whenever I start writing anything, I always think about how you would receive it.
