August 2017 Goals

August is here and so are my monthly goals! This month is different because July 31st I celebrated two years’ blogging on this site. I will dedicate all of August towards reflecting back and going forward on spreading more positive change. Here are my August monthly goals:

  • Celebrate my 2-year anniversary
  • Increase my writing frequency
  • Do a new freebie and email sequence based on my 2-year anniversary
  • More guest blogging

Reaching the 2-year mark is huge! There are blogs and social media apps (Blab, Huzza, Meerkat anyone!), that don’t survive two years! I have also published an Amazon bestselling book. This month I will celebrate what I have learned along the way. It is NOT wrong to do a victory lap! Writing down my reflections will also increase my writing frequency. I have been so busy with my two other sites, videos and live reporting that I haven’t written much outside of newsletters (Subscribe here! http://positivitychange.com/mailinglist – Shameless plug!). I intend to devote more focus on writing more.

I will also create a new freebie because what’s the point in celebrating when you don’t have any prizes or gifts? I mean, come on now! Of course, I come bearing gifts. I will create something exclusively for PositivityChange.com.

Finally, after two years and over 100 blog posts, it is time to branch out and do more guest blogging and freelancing. I do see myself using this money and exposure to revamp my site and create more content.

July 2017 Accomplishments

I admit when I first write down my monthly accomplishments this is only one thing: getting more Facebook followers. I will say that I have nearly forgotten that this month is my anniversary month. This changes everything because I have survived and thrived on the blogosphere! Below are my July accomplishments:

  • Gain more Facebook followers
  • Celebrate 2-year anniversary!

July is my anniversary month! I am very happy to have blogged for 2 years! Yes, I have created my site on July 31, 2015 and my first post is that generic WordPress site post but dang it – I am up on the Internet and ready for business! Blogging on this site has transformed me personally and professionally. Personally I have gained a whole new level of endurance from being consistent. Blogging is hard! I have to keep coming up with new ideas, concepts, and ways to expand. When I started in 2015, there were no Blogtalkradio podcast, now YouTube Live episodes, Facebook Live, nothing; just me, my laptop and my thoughts. I wanted to create a place where people can read about and enact positive change principles. I wanted to counter the notion that all change was negative. After 2 years, I felt that I had accomplished. Indeed, at the 2-year mark I was just getting started.

It took me up to this point to actually figure out a monetization strategy. Moving forward, I feel that I to do more ways of monetizing. I do see a positive mug and TV line in the very near future because I have been wanting to do that since the beginning. Now I am in a position to accomplish this.

Revisiting July 2017 Goals

August is here! That means checking in to see if I have fulfilled my July goals. http://positivitychange.com/2017/07/july-2017-monthly-goals/ Below I am revisiting them:

What I have accomplished:

  • Had highlighted and promoted my online products and shop

What I haven’t accomplished:

  • Didn’t run my 31 days of positivity
  • Didn’t experiment with YouTube Live for Positive Change Radio
  • Didn’t debut my new product this month
  • Didn’t increase my subscribers

Why haven’t I accomplished these goals:

  • I didn’t have time. Doing the two Expand Your Personal Brand livestreams, eBay livestreams and other blog-related livestreams, I didn’t have enough energy.

Am I going to take any of these unfinished July goals into August?

I am not running a 31 days of positivity. I have another series that I am running. I may do Positive Change Radio YouTube Live episodes. I don’t see me promoting the product that I wanted in July. I will create a new freebie and email sequence this month to increase my subscribers. More subscribers = more money.

PositivityChange Post : Issue 45 : Two Years On

Today, July 31, 2017, marks my second anniversary of PositivityChange! When I first started this blog, I had no idea that it would morph into an Amazon bestselling book or get me on radio. All I wanted to do was prove that positive change existed and show people to how create more of it. I am grateful for all of the readers, subscribers, Facebook followers and retweets that my articles have received.

Here are my 5 takeaways from celebrating 2 years’ of positive change:

  • Positive change is hard but doable – there I’ve said it. I think that initially when I started, people assumed that my site would be all lovey dovey and gushy. It isn’t. Positive change is hard work especially when the world equates change to be negative. I am happy to diligently write about how to create and maintain positive change for two years.
  • Keep spare articles around when the lull and writing block hits – it’s unrealistic to feel positive 100% of the time. As a blogger, I have to have back-up articles that I post just in case I either don’t feel like writing or have completely blanked out. Remember, I may have an off day but readers are coming to my blog daily.
  • It’s okay to not have all of the answers – when you’re blogging, readers assume that you’re the field expert. Well, I am 100% certain that I know more now in 2017 than I did when I first started in 2015.
  • Ignore the haters. I am writing and moving forward. They aren’t – people who leave rude comments and want to go back and forth with you on social media aren’t content creators. I am. It is only human to get defensive whenever some leaves a bad comment; but, I remember, that I am the one is actually out there actively blogging and contributing. They aren’t.
  • Keep in touch with your audience – Community means everything to me. I love my subscribers, followers and blog readers. I value your input and whenever I start writing anything, I always think about how you would receive it.

As always, thanks for reading and you can find me on Facebook! Join me below:

PositivityChange Post : Issue 44 : Keeping Pushing for Positive Change

My summer has been an eventful one. I am in the midst of seeking a new position. This job process has been different than previous ones. Some good, some bad. One in particular has been full of pits and valleys. I am a former government employee so I don’t have to fill out as much paperwork; however, that hasn’t stopped the snafus. I have been told that I haven’t been transferred from one system to another. Another mix-up comes when I submit the ready for work paperwork and the person cannot read the Adobe fillable PDF. My most recent peculiarity is that after giving my fingerprints to the agency, I will have to wait for 4 weeks to get my badge then return to give my fingerprints again. Needless to say, I have to keep finding ways to be positive.

Now, hopefully your job search or current job is nothing like what I am experiencing but just in case it is, here are some resources to help get you through:

Need Help Making Your Personal Brand Pop?

It’s summer. You are thinking about slowing down, taking it easy and enjoying family time. Great but you are also suffering from FOMO (fear of missing out). Although you can live without reporting to the office for a couple of days, you feel that people are making moves without you or that your competition are one upping you. You are seriously fretting about how do I stay top of mind without being around. The answer is simple: develop your personal brand. The definition of your personal brand is what people say about you when you are not in the room. Before you suffer a FOMO panic attack, ask yourself what you do you think your coworkers will say about you? Now ask yourself another question: what do you WANT them to say about you? Compare the answers to these two questions. Are they far apart? If so, then your personal brand needs some work. The Expand Your Personal Brand system can help you!

I am a staunch work/life balance advocate but I also want you to move up in the world. My personal brand products help you achieve this. I have used this Expand Your Personal Brand system to achieve results. I am no different than you are. This year I want to land a new opportunity so I have shift my focus onto LinkedIn by sharing my content with my groups. I understand the power of Linked Pulse, LinkedIn’s blogging platform. People use LinkedIn Pulse to discuss their current industry trends and position themselves to be an expert. I have actively blogged on LinkedIn Pulse since September 2015 yet I have only started sharing my content in my LinkedIn groups starting last November. Writing content is a way of expanding your personal brand because readers will connect your writing with your expertise. You will stay top of mind with them. For instance, say your industry is manufacturing. If you write about how just-in-time manufacturing can improve American competitiveness, your readers (oftentimes your peers if you’re sharing in industry LinkedIn groups), will remember you whenever they have a conference or need someone to train their staff. Employing this LinkedIn Pulse group sharing strategy has resulted in my receiving a Skype interview from a LinkedIn group creator. See, the importance of having a personal brand?

You will get results from reading my Expand Your Personal Brand book  , answering the workbook examples or buying the bundle together .

PositivityChange Post : Issue 43 : Positively Moving in the Right Direction

Hey everyone!

I am also very big on storytelling and being transparent. I have been an eBay reseller for a little over one year. I have experienced ups and downs like anyone else. I am glad to have this extra income to give me more choices. Lately I have been receiving weird activity (unpaid item strikes from people who don’t buy, fraud, etc.), however, I’ve pushed through because that’s what we do here! Yet, I admit it had me questioning if I want to continue. Earlier this month, I received a sale and was going to take the Fourth of July off. I meant it was the holiday so why not? Then I saw one of the YouTubers I subscribed to drop a fresh new video into my feed, the day BEFORE the Fourth of July! It forced me to boss up and do my eBay livestream on July 3rd. I didn’t know that this small spark would result in my receiving 9 sales in 2 weeks! It is all about positively moving forward in the right direction. Watch my video here:

Yes, we are at the midpoint of July. I know that we will all end our July much better than we have started.

PositivityChange Post : Issue 41 : Declare Your Independence from Indifference

I wish all of my loyal readers, a Happy Fourth of July! In keeping with this holiday’s independence theme, this issue will cover how to overcome indifference and mediocrity; and, I will use myself as an example!

Oftentimes we don’t know how we’ve gotten stuck. It is not an overnight occurrence. It happens gradually. Your standards start slipping. You become okay with it not being to your standards because no one will notice that minor defect; however, that minor defect becomes a major one and people start noticing. Once they start noticing they start coming to you about it; and, then you wonder how has the quality decreased so significantly that you hardly recognize your work, and in some instances your life? Well, that’s because we become comfortable with just being okay. Mediocrity erodes a lot faster than excellence. I am bringing this example up because I have experienced this in my life while studying for the ITIL certification.
