This Week in PCM : 5 Ways to Stay Positive

When Negativity Rears Its Ugly Head, here are the five ways to stay positive!

We all have our ups and downs. No matter how positive we try to live our lives. We here at PositivityChange truly understand this which is why we provide resources to guide you through a rough patch. Here are my 5 ways to stay positive:

  1. Have a positive support group

Being superman is the worst thing to do right now. That’s what friends are for. And if your friends are responsible for the negativity, that’s what meet-ups and support groups are for! Find a positive support group that will help you through the storm. We have a Facebook group that will help you accomplish this.

  1. Express gratitude

Be grateful for something, anything. Expressing gratitude stops the continuous negative thoughts. You don’t want to stay down. Expressing gratitude is the way to start climbing out of the pit of negativity.

  1. Find ONE thing that’s positive

I know that being a negative slump can be nasty at times. To halt the slide, find ONE thing that’s positive about yourself and your situation. Finding this one thing is your way of regaining control of the situation.

  1. Get some exercise.

Exercise is a way to shifting your energy. I walk every morning and it releases yesterday’s energy. In addition, I shift and re-center myself before work and the day gets started. Exercise has very good health and mental benefits. Moreover, exercise helps you focus on something different.

  1. Be pro-active and start planning your exit

You cannot stay negative because that’s regressive. You need to be progressive. Sometimes you have to leave your current situation when things don’t change. I know that it’s hard when it is a workplace. That’s why this step is planning your exit from negativity. Even if it is a lateral move to another department, get away from people, places and situations weighing you down.
